Hero Day was also our 1st grade Pumpkin Day! Here are some pictures of my 1st grade Heros!
Ms. Tower is a JMU practicum student that visits our classroom on Thursdays. The students and I have grown attached to her and her enthusiastic way of teaching and helping in the classroom. Today she taught the students a lesson about apples. She discussed different types of apples, different colors, and the parts of an apple. Then she had the students "apple" stamp a fall tree. The students had SO much fun!
This is my favorite Dress Up day!! I love seeing all the different sports teams and which team my students cheer for.
Yesterday Cub Run was visiting by TV3! Our PTA President, Amy Hite, submitted an entry to Project 3 for CRES to get a grant to help rebuild our playground. The students were very excited and it is wonderful to have a caring community that would like a better playground for our students! Here is the link to see the news clip: TV3 Project 3: Cub Run
We decorated Virginia cookies and labeled Richmond and Washington, D.C. Thanks to Mrs. Amberg for baking them for us!
The students were happy to wear caps for a day! If they brought in $1 they could wear their favorite cap. All proceeds go to Relay for Life.
I do believe Reading Eggs is more popular with my students than First in Math :) so glad they enjoyed this wonderful Reading program!!
Students in 1st grade were visited by a Police Officer who has a granddaughter in 1st grade at Cub Run! Mrs. Turner's class join my class for the presentation while Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Breeden had the presentation in Mrs. Breeden's room. It was great to hear what to do when a stranger talks to you, among other helpful hints.
Check back weekly for new updates!
